I’ve visited Brighton a number of times and I’m sure there will be many more to come. I never seem to run out of cafes to relax at, pubs to enjoy, shops to explore and I’ll never get sick of watching the sunset over the west pier. Brighton has a lot to offer, and being only a 1 hour train journey from London, it should be on your radar.
This city is my absolute favourite place to shop. It’s just offers something a bit different. Of course, you have all the high street staples, but you also have what’s called North Laine. It’s full of vintage stores, quirky boutiques and antiques for days. The compact city centre makes it that much more convenient. I’ve had had some seriously good finds in Snoopers Paradise and even had my wedding shoes custom made for me at cute bridal shop I just happened to walk into.
The food scene is simply amazing. You have everything from fine dining to amazing fish and chip shops. One of my favourites restaurants ever is 64 degrees placed right on the edge of the lanes (not to be confused with North Laine). It’s modern cooking in an intimate setting without the hefty price tag. I sat at the counter which overlooks the tiny kitchen and after watching the food being cooking, had it placed in front of me by the chef. Vegans and vegetarians could have a field day in Brighton, the non meat options are abundant and interesting. Terre a Terre is a plant based treat. Don’t even get me started on the cafes…The Flour Pot is a good start.
The nightlife is diverse and entertaining. Enjoy a cocktail and catch a bit of Jazz at the Mesmerist, head over to Dead Wax for a fresh pizza and some vinyl or take your pick of bars on the seafront. Endless possibilities!
If I’m not feeling too hung over from the night before or feel I need to sweat it out, I’ll book myself in a session at Yoga Haven in Hove, about a 15 minute walk from Brighton city centre.
Brighton is also home to the UK’s biggest Pride Festival, England’s largest art festival;Brighton Fringe, and Wild Life Festival, a Music Festival held at the Brighton City Airport brought to you by Disclosure and Rudimental.
