Cascade Wellness Resort in the Algarve

I was so excited to be staying at Cascade Wellness Resort in the Algarve with my husband, Si.  I had been anticipating a trip to this part of Europe for many years and it was finally happening! From what I had read the location of Cascade Wellness Resort was meant to be incredible. It sits on a cliffs edge right near the Ponta de Piedade lighthouse, Lagos town and rugged coastlines surround the property.

The rooms in the hotel are split into various themed sections. Our room was in Africa and the theme was subtly sensed through the dark wood and tribal pattern accents. What I loved most about the room was the fact that the big sliding door opens right out to a terrace, the stunning pool and beyond it, you could see the ocean meeting the horizon.

Upon arrival we received a welcome cocktail, which as soon as we settled in, went straight for. We sat in the bar and looked out to the sea, sipping our delights. Touches like these are what make a hotel stand out from the rest. It immediately puts you into holiday mode.

What really sets Cascade Wellness Resort apart is that is the ideal place for the active traveler. I know many people who’s idea of “a holiday” is lying next to a pool doing nothing- which by all means is a viable option, though would seem like a waste in this instance. With hours of cliffs walks and countless beaches to explore all within a few square miles you certainly wont’t get bored. I wish I had had a few more days to devote solely to the cliffs!

The gym facilities at Cascade Wellness Resort are excellent with everything you need to stay fit on holiday.  They frequently run sports training and fitness programs though out the season including tennis, yoga and football so be sure to check those out here.

A wonderful feature of the hotel is the serene adults only spa. It’s hidden away in a quieter part of the complex. It’s home to a heated pool and hot tub which are perfect for your post cliff walking recovery. I honestly did not notice it at first, but was ecstatic I went to check it out. I know if I was on a weeks holiday I would be visiting this area almost daily for the ultimate relaxation.

When you’ve had an active day its nice to balance the with some lovely food and gastronomy is very important at Cascade Wellness Resort. With a fine dining restaurant, a gastropub as well as a breakfast restaurant and multiple bars you will have your fair share of foodie treats. Breakfast essentially had everything you could imagine. Fresh juices, meats, cheeses, baked goods, avocado, sparkling wine, the list goes on and on. If you want something made to order just ask the chef who is ready and waiting to make eggs of your choice or fresh pancakes. Lucky for us we got to experience the reopening of their fine dining restaurant — Senses. We spoilt ourselves here with lots of fresh seafood and wine.

The facilities and activities on offer at Cascade Wellness resort are really great, but in my eyes it’s the location that makes this resort an absolute winner. It would be very difficult to trump the epic scenery, incredible beaches, walking trails, boat trips, and historic Lagos which are all at your fingertips. Combine this with everything you need to relax and  keep fit at Cascade Wellness Resort and you’ve got a well balanced, rejuvenating getaway.
