Is there really any other name that would have been more suitable than The Garden? This electic bar and grill in the town of Lagos, Portugal was not a place I thought I would be coming across on this trip. The Garden Bar and Grill Lagos is full of different plants and flowers and makes you feel like you’ve just stumbled into a jungle. It felt more like being in Bali than Portugal. I had a look at the menu and was quickly lured in by Sangrias pitchers for 6 Euros. Ordering the sparkling Sangria was a very good decision on my part.
The vibe was totally laid back and bohemian, just the sort of place I feel most at home! I could hang out here for hours, especially on a sunny day when I could just imagine how the light would stream between all the different plantation. The day I went was overcast and cool but they had some blankets to curb the chill. I was assured by many that the weather was certainly not typical Algarve spring weather!
On the menu at The Garden Bar and Grill are all sorts of meat and BBQ plates. Ideally most of the grills were priced under a tenner! Your choice of meat is cooked on giant grill in the middle of The Garden. That grilling smell in the air brought me back to my childhood and summertime BBQ’s in update New York.
If you’re headed to Lagos I would absolutely recommend you stop buy this little gem. Take a few hours to put your feet up, have a couple drinks and mingle at The Garden.
TIP: This is a seriously instagrammable spot so if you’re looking to get some photos I suggest coming right when they open or at about 3pm, before the dinner rush.
