Checking In: Watergate Bay Hotel in Cornwall, England
Table of Contents
When trying to think of how to describe the Watergate Bay Hotel in Cornwall, the best I could come up with that is that it’s kinda like that naturally pretty friend who has it all but doesn’t know it. She is unpretentious luxury, cool, calm and collected. She doesn’t need lots of fancy make up or clothes, she has her own sophisticated style.
To be honest, when driving up to The Watergate Bay Hotel, you hardly notice it from the road. It does a good job of blending in with the surrounding cliffside. I can definitely appreciate that kind of subtleness.
Getting to Watergate Bay Hotel in Cornwall
After living in Croyde, North Devon for 6 years I can attest to the fact that Devon and it’s neighbouring county, Cornwall are probably the hardest to get to. However, these 2 counties are also amongst the most beautiful locations in England.
Newquay has it’s own small airport, but many love to make the breathtaking drive down to Watergate Bay Hotel, taking in the amazing countryside. Keep in mind, You will encounter lots of small roads and possibly traffic in the peak months of July and August.
Checking in to Watergate Bay Hotel
Check in was a sea breeze, we were welcomed by the friendly receptionist and I quickly made my way to the room. Upon opening the door I think my mouth may have dropped a little. The corner suite with stand alone bath tub and sweeping views of the sea struck me hard.
I spent the first couple of hours enjoying the well decorated ocean room and taking in the sprawling sea views. The only reason I got out of this tub was because I couldn’t wait to try some of the exciting food we had heard was on offer!
Seafood at Watergate Bay Hotel
Foodies are clearly welcome at Watergate Bay. Just down stairs there are three restaurants; Zacrys, The Living Space, and my favourite, the Beach Hut. Seafood doesn’t get much fresher. Each plate came out looking stunning and the mussels I had were the biggest I had ever seen, and local to boot!
Days at Watergate Bay Hotel
You can enjoy Watergate Bay Hotel rain or shine. The rooms and spaces throughout the hotel are ideal for curling up with a cup of tea or glass of wine to escape everyday thoughts while you watch the waves come in.
There are so many things to keep you busy; from surfing an swim club to beach cook outs and work out classes. Whatever kind of holiday you are on Watergate Bay Hotel will meet your needs. It’s fitting for for any occasion whether it be a family holiday, couples hideaway or friends reunion.
Overview of Watergate Bay Hotel Cornwall
The convenient layout of the hotel and the compact, incredible seaside surroundings make it an overall winner. The intimate setting, casual service and relaxing vibe make it feel like your friend’s posh beach house rather than just another hotel.
All of these characteristics made up for a wonderful 3 nights stay or a week’s holiday. I left feeling refreshed and energised. You couldn’t really ask for more from a British seaside holiday.
